She hasn't had an acting job in two years, she hasn't had a raise at the restaurant during that time, and she hasn't had sex in six months. In her frustration, she accidentally swallowed a fly and got her car key stuck in her apartment door lock. Not being able to get into her apartment until the locksmith shows up, she waits with Sheldon in his apartment, where he is playing Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures on-line.
Sheldon lets her try the game, and she enjoys it so much, she gets hooked. As the guys and Leslie postulate what is the underlying cause for Penny's addiction, they come to a conclusion of what Penny needs to get her out of this funk, and the guys do whatever they can to help her get it. Penny, lift your legs. Chuck Lorre Productions, Blondie is sexually frustrated. Universal Conquest Wiki. Flash jersey. Bat Question. Spazz Stone by VolCom. Sheldon starts the episode in a BDG tee, blue with gray horizontal stripes discontinued from Urban Outfitters.
Later as the boys are playing with the dancing cornstarch, Sheldon is wearing his Flash athletic jersey. When Penny bursts in on him in the middle of the night, Sheldon is wearing his Monday pajamas, and can't get out of bed to assist her because he's not wearing the bottoms, having spilled juice on them. The next day at the university, Sheldon is befuddled over what to do about Penny and appropriately wears his Riddler - Bat Question shirt.
Finally, as Sheldon tries to set Penny up with Tom, he's seen in a purple VolCom t-shirt with a pattern called "Spazz Stone", which appears to be discontinued loserkids. Deter Penguins. Antlers by Heavy Rotation. In this episode, Sheldon is excited to play Zork, and the 'buggy beta version', too. It's a moment that speaks to how devoted the characters are to their nerdy hobbies, and how much of a purist Sheldon is. He would rather have a less easy or enjoyable experience in order to get the 'true' or original game.
Sheldon barely even plays Red Dead Redemption in this episode - instead, he is just wandering around in-game, not doing anything.
When asked why, he responds that he wanted to take a walk to 'clear his head' after an argument with Amy. It's a brilliant moment that references the incredible open world of RDR, but also shows just how much Sheldon sees games as part of his real world, that he would choose to 'take a walk' online, instead of actually going outside to walk!
However, the headline reference in this one is to Words With Friends , as Sheldon has been playing with Stephen Hawking - and is thrilled that this "officially" makes them friends. Things get complicated when Sheldon starts to beat him and he stops playing, though, leading Sheldon to throw the game. One of the best parts of this episode is guest star Hawking who appears in multiple episodes calling Sheldon to make fun of him for losing - a hilarious moment that really shows Hawking's sense of humor.
Penny may spend most of the series being portrayed as a total ditz who couldn't care less about her friends' nerdy pursuits, but episodes like this one show how much they actually have in common. Here, she is frustrated about a lack of real-world success, and ends up getting obsessed with Age of Conan for the in-game rewards and feeling of accomplishment it gives her.
It's a great way to add depth to Penny's character, and also to make a comment about how these games can become addictive for people in the real world for this very reason.
